I have trouble getting my kids to track their reading. You know, like use your pointer? I have to continually say "Are you keeping up?" If I don't stay after them, they will NOT keep up and not listen. How can I get them to show pride in keeping up while reading? They are so not focused.

monster fingers help! At this time of year you can find these glow in the dark or monster fingers...pass out one to each student and let them finger touch the words...very motivational for tracking.

On tpt I saw some monster fingers that you can make and glue onto popsicle sticks to use.

I've used monster fingers as well. I also saw the cutest monster eyes on pintrest. You glue a large goggly eye on a tongue depressor. My kids love using them. I have also begun making alphabet books that have dots under each of the words. My kids have to "jump" from dot to dot. They are working out pretty good.

Here is a link to the googly eye pointers: http://theteachergeek.com/2010/11/i-...my-googly-eye/

I'm not sure how to upload a copy of one of the books I made, so if you would like to see an example of one, post me a message with your email address and I will email you one.

They could also decorate Popsicle sticks with stickers, or put a sticker on their fingernail.

Love the google eye! Monster fingernails are good, too! I will try both and see what kind of results I get.
