I sprained my knee about four years ago trying to run/walk to try to lose weight, and went to urgent care for it. They gave me prednisone, it felt better after a week or so. I gave up on the working out because I loss all motivation after hurting myself. Fast forward to the present. I frequently walk up and down stairs at work and have a slight pain in that same knee. Any suggestions for preventing the pain(mostly when climbing up the stairs)?

You may have some arthritis in it because it tends to develop later on where injuries took place. My chiropractor recommends Aleve, but I am not sure it do much for your pain when walking up the steps. If you can get back to the gym, exercise is very good for arthritis!
