Why oh why must we interview?

There must be an easier way
Today I actually asked to skip a question.

Sigh

Yes, I know the feeling! I don't do well on the spot. I never have asked to skip a question, but I was honest and said that I did not know the answer to a question they asked me. I ended up getting the job! I was told being honest was better than making up some bs answer or just saying something that didn't make sense.

I once skipped a question and said I didn't know. I got the job!

I would love to have an interview. I haven't been called back for a single job I've applied for in the past five months.

Too bad you can't phone a friend, poll the audience or do 50/50 like on Millionaire!

Interviewing is not easy for everyone, but everyone can get better.

In reflection, write down all the questions they asked as soon as you can so you remember them. Then, jot down things you remember that you said. When you calm down and think back, reflect on what you think went well and what didn't.

Build on your answers. Make them stronger. Construct better responses at home and be sure to include specific examples. You need to draw the audience in and "take them there." Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words. Try to get them to "see" your responses and your point of view.

And lastly, remember that most applicants say similar things. They all know the answers to the questions, but what interview teams remember is your confidence and passion. Leave the room believing they will remember you, and this will work out for you.

Good luck!
