After 30 years I just held my last official parent teacher conference!
Maybe 103 days left😀(give or take a few).

I retired in June, and I remember seeing things that were challenging or time consuming or stressful as a series of "lasts". I especially liked "last observation", submitting my SGOs for the last time and submitting my final documentation log. I had a rough class, so it was definitely time to retire. No regrets here! I hope the remainder of your days are productive and fun.

Oh man! The rest of the year will be a piece of cake by comparison. Enjoy each "last" thing you do, give it (or throw it) away and get ready to move on to a really relaxing, happy place. Retirement!

Big final

I loved noticing all my “last times” some happy, some bittersweet. Conferences for sure, resorting leveled books, the last time I taught my favorite unit on Otters, the last time I had to deal with a fundraiser....

Mostly, though, I enjoyed cleaning out my cabinets and files.

Yes, there are good and bad 'lasts.'
Some goods have been my last Halloween parade, setting up online schedule, and of course conferences.
It has been hard to part with many of my favorite units that I wrote and have taught for years.
I went through my cupboards this summer and dedicated a cabinet to be used this year. I have been so free with things that I have coveted in the past.
"You want to use the highlighters? Go for it!"
"Post it notes? How many do you want?"

Some days I feverishly pitch my favorite lessons and other days they go in a stack, only to go through later and then pitch.

I really need to practice the touch it one time only policy.

It is certainly a roller coaster. And I am looking forward to getting off in June.

Luvmycats, I think you are on the right track toward retirement! The LASTS are the best parts.... at least the lasts you never enjoyed or were stressful. It is indeed a roller coaster! It’s hard to give up that precious identity being a teacher. That was so so hard for me. BUT you evolve as a person in ways you never knew you were capable of BEING! That will come later..... now just keep doing what you are doing! Keep celebrating the lasts and enjoy doing it your way in this last year!
