Literacy Coach Position

Hi all,

Hoping I can get some advice...I've been a classroom teacher for five years, just got my Master's in Reading this year and just went for a literacy coach interview. There is a good chance I may get this job...I'm feeling very anxious about it- just the transition from the classroom more into a coaching position.

any input on the position from current reading specialist/literacy coaches? It has been my dream that there is where I would end up some day, just didnt think it would happen this quickly, and I'm finding myself worrying about missing the interaction with the kids...maybe just getting some cold feet I guess

Thanks all

Our coach is wonderful! She does testing, materials organization, etc., but is available to answer any and all questions. She also travels between four of our schools, so she doesn't have much time to put down roots. She still interacts with the kiddies because she goes into the classrooms often and also models for the teachers. She loves it!

Take the opportunity if you have it. I moved to the Resource Center two years ago after several years in a self-contained class. I do miss some aspects of my own classroom, but feel blessed to have had the opportunity to make the switch.

Good Luck!!

Wow, I popped on to pro teachers to write literally the SAME post. I taught 2nd grade for 5 years and on Monday, I will accept a 3-5 Literacy Specialist position. If you find any fantastic resources, please, please, send my way. Feel free to private message me and maybe we can share emails.

So far, I have been pouring over the Teacher's College website (http://readingandwritingproject.com/...d-the-ccs.html), just ordered Lucy Calkins' Pathways to Common Core, and I plan to email the teachers who worked in my old school doing this same position. Also using Pinterest and TeachersPayTeachers. Good luck to you!!
