I'm looking for resources to use with students who have language impairments to teach reading. I'm finding the phonemic awareness and phonics approach is not working well with some of these students who have been at it for 4 to 5 years now. What programs work for your students. TIA for any suggestions.

Sometimes I find that if I focus on vocabulary development helps. I don't use a program of vocab but I may either use Building Academic Vocab by Marzano or I check out Super Duper website (www.superduperinc.com) they have some great ideas for vocab and language when I get stuck.

I just got a new book "RTI in Action" from ASHA. It looks great for L.I. kids
