Does your family use on their cell phones? I was paying our bill online and just took a look at the actual usage. I am amazed. We have 3 people in our family, myself, my DH, and DS (12.5). Last month we used a total of 7859 minutes and sent 4053 texts. That seems like a lot....especially when you consider DS's usage totals 4,939 minutes and 3,656 text messages!!!! Who on earth is he talking to for that many minutes????
Good thing is that we have unlimited text (best thing ever for teens) and all of his minutes are mobile to mobile which are also unlimited, so our bill isn't high, but that just seems excessive for 3 people. Now, I must also add that we only use our cell phones. As soon as we got our son a phone, we never used our home phone, so I got rid of that bill.
So, let's hear it.....How many minutes does your family use???
we have 1400 minutes and usually use them up. The mobile to mobile and friends and family minutes are higher. My 14 year old DD does the text thing and she is up in the 4000 + range. They talk to everyone!!! Literally!!! I found they don't always say much though its kind of funny.
I just happened to pay our bill today. We each used about 250 minutes each. We mostly call each other. We have limited text. We only have 200 each. So far, that is enough.

Reason: Spelling
just remember that when you receive and send a text it counts as 2. it charges you to read it and respond.
a lot of times the kids respond back with "k" or a smilie or some one letter/word response. And, I know when I was that age, you sit on the phone and say nothing a lot.
DH and I share 1400 minutes and I think we'll downgrade very soon. We have free verizon to verizon, free favorites of 10 numbers, and free text. We still ahve 2 weeks left on our plan and we've only used 300 minutes that were charged.
I don't have children old enough to use a phone, but DH and I share a plan. We each have 500 anytime minutes and we also have 500 shared minutes. We almost always have minutes left over at the end of the month because we usually are talking to other AT&T users.
I'd be surprised if I spent 4,939 min. on the phone in the past year (maybe two). That's about 83 hours! (But I hate talking on the phone, so that may be a factor.) Your son is quite the talker!
