Conferencing Writing

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Hi
I'm currently doing some research on conferencing writing in the classroom. I was wondering how you handle conferencing practically in the classroom - one on one with the teacher, in groups, peer conferencing.

How do you find the time to conference with all the children in your classroom? What sort of conversation starters do you have and how do you record the conference outcome / next steps.

Any practical tips for managing this would be gratefully received.

Thank you

I have a pocket chart with labels at the top: brainstorming, first draft, peer conference, revision, second draft, teacher conference, final draft
I have the kids put their names under the heading they are currently working on. I meet with the kids whose names are under teacher conference. If there are no names I meet with small groups to see who is struggling.
Hope this helps!
