Where should I begin?

I just found this board and it is all new to me. My school is asking us to use teaching with love and logic. I really like TLL, but I think I like this better because it is the entire package! My own kids went to a Montessori school and some of what I'm reading reminds me of how great that was.
Ok to my question...where should I begin? I have had my class for one week so far so I feel like I really need to jump on this. What book should I read this weekend and what bookstores actually stock them? I live in the Houston area so if it is sold in retail I can probably find it. I can't wait for your advice and to jump in with both feet.

I would definitely start with The First Six Weeks of School. I think that will help you a lot! I'm not sure if it is available at stores...I ordered mine online. I would also recommend the website:

www.responsiveclassroom.org

There is an overview, reviews of other books and tons of great articles!

I agree with TeacherLisa...The First Six Weeks of School is the best choice to read first.

Then I would recommend The Morning Meeting Book.

Another great resource is 99 Greetings and Activities which will help with new ideas for keeping morning meeting fresh.
