I laughed yesterday when someone deemed my way of making toast "skillet toast." I have made it like that for years. We used to have a restaurant down town that would hand out these laoves of bread to everyone thr last day they were open before Christmas. That bread was a year treat for my family every single year. A few years back they closed permanently and gave out those same loaves of bread on their last day open.

The bread had directions to reheat the bread the way I did it in the skillet.

I love eating cinnamon raisin bread prepared the way you described. So delicious! You can also sauté garlic in the butter to make garlic toast. Incredible with gumbo or jambalaya!

And I followed through on my thought and had Cinnamon Skillet Toast for breakfast today. Browned it with butter, topped with cinnamon and chopped strawberries, and yogurt on the side. Yum!

Oprah's grilled cheese sounds stellar, BTW.

So what did you call it before?

I live in the midwest and have called that way of toasting 'Skillet Toast' for over 50 years.

"Toast" is just toaster made and 'oven toast' is pre-buttered and put under the broiler.

BTW, now that I've typed out 'toast' so many times, it looks and feels wrong...
