I have a student whose mom is going to give birth any day. I wanted to do something nice for my student to celebrate that he is going to be a big brother. Any suggestions? I wanted to do a card for him from the class, but something more interesting!

Remember when you were young, and would make the "baby footprints" on the car window with your hand? Did you do that???

If not, make a fist, and look at the pinky side. It looks like a baby footprint! Then use your fingertip to make the toe prints.

Paint the boys' prints baby blue & the girls' pink, have them write their name beside their footprint, and write "Welcome ____'s Baby Sister/Brother from _____'s First Grade Class, 2009.

I've done this in the past, and this year, I have one of the babies I made a banner for in my class! Her mom told me at Open House that she still has the banner!

My second year, I had 2 students in my class whose moms were having babies. Actually, now that I think of it, they were both born on the same day even! And these kids were not siblings.

Anyway, our class decided to make a onesie for each baby. I went out and bought 2 plain white onesies. The class voted on what picture should go on each. The little boy had a baby brother so we made it a Star Wars onesie. The little girl had a little sister and we made he a Dr. Seuss onesie (i don't remember which book) Then we used our fabric markers and "signed" them.

The little guys were so excited to get them. They saw all these other people giving their babies things and didn't have anything to give them. Now they did!
