What If You Had $5K Right Now?!

What would you do?

In this order, I'd...

- Get 1-2 mos ahead on the rent

- Pay more on another bill or two

That's it, that $5K would be gone after that.

2) get my basement done
3) get the yard spruced up

I'd replace my aging CRV with a newer model. I'd probably have to add a few $Ks but it would be a good start.

I would pay it toward the loan on my new solar panels. After I get the tax rebates, the loan would be paid off...and I would have free electricity for life! Whoopee!

If I randomly got $5K, I'd put it toward my gold-plated roof.

Is it just a random $5000 I found on the ground or won unexpectedly or is it $5000 that I've saved up?

I actually have $5000 saved up and can't decide...
landscaping plan for the front yard
all new appliances - dishwasher, washer/dryer, stove/oven
new flooring in the living areas

If it's a random $5000, I'd go on a big trip.

I don't know why I wouldn't use it toward one of the things above.

We had that just a month ago with our tax refund! I divided it up into chunks for different things were saving for: trip to NYC, trip to Disneyland, a little in our car savings account, and put aside some for dhs school costs for next year.

Then I bought two practical, but fun (for me!) splurges: a new vacuum cleaner and a new grill!

So many ideas! It would be smart for me to put it towards my new car fund, or put it in my Roth IRA, but a nice long vacation Sounds good about now!

So many options....

Probably half in college fund for kids and the other half on a new Mac laptop and iPhone.

Or it would go towards new flooring in the new house.

New carpet
Tires for three of our vehicles.

That would probably take up about $5000.

Well, I actually did have $5K
Old 05-18-2019, 12:52 PM

I had a little more than that in an IRA retirement account beyond my regular retirement at school. I was eligible to take it out when I turned 63 without any penalty and without any stipulations about how to spend it. I paid off as many bills as I could with the $5K I took out. That freed up cash to pay on other bills and now I have a little extra for extra projects I want to do. Very nice.

I really want to put a nice shed in our backyard so I would use the money for that. It would help free up the garage space we have. I'm hoping it becomes a reality sometime this late summer or fall.

I'd probably get some new furniture as mine is looking a little worse for wear. One does not have a cat and have nice things . I'd also like a smart tv over messing with my firestick.

I wish $5k would cover 2 months of rent for me!

If I got it RIGHT NOW, I'd probably put it aside for our trip this summer. We're going to need it.

I have lots of bills and expenses to pay, but since I know we're planning our first trip in *forever,* I'd like to know I have the money set aside.

Are you offering? I'd love to take you up on that!

I would probably take care of some nagging issues around our house....not fun, but necessary.
-replace backyard fence
-replace master bathroom shower
-replace some flooring in the house
-fix part of the automatic sprinkler system that isn't working

A random 5 grand would get me new floors in the whole house I think.

If not then I would buy a used miniwinnie (Small driving camper) and save the rest for winter storage. Then I would take off.

At this moment, I would put it towards our house renovations to make sure we get top dollar when we sell.

I would love $5k now.

I would either use it to pay back my floor renovations or use it for travel in the summer. I could also use part of it on a new stairs carpet and new attic ladder installation.
