# boys/#girls in class

Clip to ScrapBook #1

As I browse all the wonderful posts, I noticed a lot of teachers commenting on how they have a boy-heavy class. I have not seen any posts talking about a class with more girls!

What is the number of boys/girls in your class?
What grade do you teach?

I have 20 boys and 9 girls.
I teach kindergarten.

The other kinder classes are more equal, but still have a couple more boys than girls.

I have 12 boys and 5 girls. Numbers are low this year but we have a lot of boys.

11 girls and 9 boys. We have 5 classes and all are either even or have one more girl. Last year we were heavier on boys.

I can't imagine having 20 boys!

I talked to a teacher who complained one year because she had 20 girls and 3 boys. She said there was too much drama, even for first grade.

This year I am even-12 boys and 12 girls, I think this is the first time it has ever happened. Last year I was very girl heavy, I started the year with 14 girls and 10 boys by the end of the year it was 18 girls and 6 boys. I just kept loosing boys and they were replaced with girls.

13 boys, 11 girls. I'd rather have the boys, all in all. The girly girls drive me nuts. Squealing, holding hands, dancing... bleah.

Keltkmom, I hear you (or rather your class!). I teach 2nd grade and at one point last year I had 15 boys and 8 girls. This year I have 13 boys and 9 girls. At home it's only me and DD so it's an adjustment having all the 2nd grade boys.

I have 15 boys and 7 girls - gr 1. It's loud but I'm used to boys (at home) so I don't think I notice it as much.

I have 6 girls and 12 boys. It has been a very rough year so far... my boys are very "active" to put it mildly.

17 girls and 10 boys...I am used to more boys than girls. Girls are little more chatty, but all in all they are an awesome group of kids.

I teach 5th grade and I have 5 boys and 17 girls. We have 2 all boy middle schools in my area that pull our boys. In 7th grade this year, we have 6 boys out of 35 kids total (we have 1 all girl class and the other is mixed). I am at a small private school.

Yikes! Laurasusie, you have it "worse" than me. I also teach kindergarten (full day), and I have 18 boys, 7 girls.

I am always boy heavy, the last 3 years has been 16 - 9. 4 years ago I had 16 girls 9 boys- Very drama heavy, and each boy counted as 3 that year.
