Almost 3 weeks still to go....

One full teaching week this week.

Quiz day, two review days, and final exams next week.

More finals Monday of the following week, followed by an exam make up day and two teacher days.

I can't wait for summer!

My 1 year anniversary!!

This past year has been great and I have no regrets over retiring. Whats not to like about an endless summer vacation?

I was so happy to accompany hubs on business trips to a lot of warmer places in the winter. He worked and I didnt! We also enjoyed traveling for pleasure during the off season when places arent so crowded. None of this could have happened prior to retiring.

There was an adjustment to retiring and my biggest challenge has been that life doesnt need to be such a big rush. It took me about 6 months to learn how to slow down, breathe deeply and savor the moment. Life is so good!

I am celebrating my one year anniversary.

I must say it didn't quite turn out like I expected. My mom has been sick much of the time, but I am grateful that I am not teaching and trying to deal with this. I haven't had time to do the things I wanted.

HOWEVER, I don't miss any of the things that are happening in education these days. I have turned that switch off in my life, and despite the time that I have spent in doctor's offices and so forth, I HAVE found time to sit on the deck and drink my coffee and just soak up a bit of relaxation.

I am happy to be retired!!! Looking forward to year 2.

Sandy

Wow! These three years have gone by so fast. I love traveling and living life at my own pace. I also love that I can see my grandkids more often. I have that darling baby here with us for two weeks. I'm only posting because it is nap time!

One year anniversary for me -just shy 5 days.
Retirement is great because it gives me freedom of time and choice everyday.
So far, I've cruised the Med, babysat the grandkids & granddog, begun redecorating, and have spent more quality time with my recently retired husband than since we were married!

2 wonderful years full of travel and moving to our little bit of paradise on the Gulf coast. So thankful for the ability to just get into the car and go whenever we want. "Weekend" trips in the middle of the week = cheaper and no kids around!! Yes, life is good!

3 years for retirement

4 years not working full time -- does that make sense?

Like Catdog12, I started later than most, so I taught 22 years.

Also, like supernova, not quite the way we planned, but I can't imagine doing what we're doing (mostly helping children taken care of grandchildren and still teaching. I am glad that we are able to help our kids over the speed bumps of life.

I have had most of the day to do whatever I wanted. Lovely!

It's been wonderful. I love being able to plan my own "schedule." I've been subbing, traveling, and enjoying my grandchildren. DH and I just returned from a fun motorcycle ride in our beautiful area, on a Monday! Love it!

I've had 2 awesome years of retirement. I've so enjoyed walking/hiking, volunteer tutoring at a neighborhood school, having an extra cup of tea or a leisurely lunch. I've just truly enjoyed the absence of job-related stress. Even the difficult times during my first year off (like taking care of my ailing mil) were so much better because I no longer had to worry about getting to work or making sub plans, etc....I'm starting year #3 with fairly major foot surgery (later this week). I know it's going to be a long recovery, but again, I'm so thankful I'm retired. I don't have to worry about things like "Am I going to be physically healed enough to get my classroom ready and begin the school year?". -- It is a true blessing to know that I can Take My Time to heal/recover.

I still feel like a newly-wed, but it's been a year. And what a happy year. I give thanks every morning for the day I have, for the life, friends, family, and memories. Plus I've worked on slowing down so I don't rush through everything like mad and I am loving what I choose to do.

Ahhhhhh, how about a cold white wine spritzer out in the back garden?

Anyone?

I celebrated my second anniversary on the 5th! Basically I have just enjoyed being home and having less stress in my life. In my situation I feel a bit more like I resigned and became a stay at home mom, but I do love not having to go in each day and am grateful I can give our daughter and my mom more of my time!

I can't believe it is already going to be my fifth year of retirement. Time sure flies when you don't have to worry about the clock.
The first year I eased into it by mentoring and training the new teachers at my old school and by doing some subbing.
The second year I decided I did not want to go back. Traveling to many different places, hiking/mountaineering, lunches with friends, movies, beach walks, learning to paint with acrylics, quilting, bicycling, visiting my DD#2 and grandkids, cleaning out my old teaching stuff (ongoing ), volunteering, tutoring a student from abroad, learning to cook all over again, and so much more.
Life's good when you're retired!

One wonderful year! It has been so lovely being able to just "be". The days have been filled with friends, family, traveling, cleaning, finding my new life. I had no idea this life would be so satisfying. I am volunteering with different organizations in town and find it so nice to still be making a difference in other's lives. Welcome to the new retirees...it is a great phase of life to be in!
