Check this IRS site for information specific to you. It is a portal that will tell you how your stimulus funds are being sent to you. You won't need any other information.
Yes, we received a debit card. It looks very official. I can't believe they did this instead of a check or direct deposit. If we want to just get cash from an ATM, it will cost us $3 each time we want to withdraw.

It says that we can have it transferred to our account by calling and giving info.
I better read the info that came with it, because I don't remember seeing this. I didn't read it closely though, so if that's an option, I think it is better than the ATM.
It is stupid to send a debit card, unless someone requests it. I can see for some people who might not have a bank account, it could be the best way to get it to them. But the majority would prefer direct deposit or check, I'm sure.
stimulus money by debit card, instead of direct deposit, which I thought was kind of strange because of other things we do for the government which are direct deposit or withdrawal. Oh, well.
It will come in an official-looking long white envelope with a stamp on it that says do not discard.
When you get the card you can easily take the amount and deposit it into your checking account, which is what we did. It's very easy to do that. there are step-by-step instructions on how to do it. Keep the card, though, as they may use it to deposit other money into the card.
With all that being said, yesterday we got our latest stimulus check in the mail!! Go figure!
It is crazy. There is no rhyme or reason to it. For the first one, I entered the direct deposit info on the website before the deadline, but I got a paper check. For the latest one, I got direct deposit.
We got online and registered it and assigned it a password, then took the card to our bank and they transferred the money off the card and into our bank account.
We received a check the first time, and just received a debit card in my husband’s name for $1200. It was for both of us. We called, activated the card and set our PIN number.
Took the card to the bank and transferred the funds to our checking account. No fees and we were able to do it at the drive thru window.
We received our first one back in the spring as a credit card. We did think it was fake and almost threw it away. It didn't help that it had the wrong name for me (my husband and I each kept our names). Anyway, long story short, we were able to deposit it in our account with no fees.
Oddly, this most recent one came as a paper check.
We got our card this week. It has our names on it and is definitely the real deal. Surprised because we received our last stimulus payment months later than others last year and it was a paper check.
