Has anyone done any really great Feb board? Maybe with a little writing to go along with it?

I like to focus on friendship in February due to Valentine's day. So I have the students do a "Recipe for Friendship". They write out a recipe like 2 cups of kindness. 1 teaspoon of listening....etc. At the end write a sentence like "Mix it all together to create a beautiful/ wonderful friendship. They can draw a picture of their friends/or do an art creation.

Valentines Day

I do "Valentine Visitors" which I "borrowed from one of my kids teachers years ago. Materials: white drawing paper, red drawing paper, crayons, scissors. Students need to think of a famous person who they like, or look up to. On the red drawing paper they trace a heart shape and cut it out and paste it onto the top of the white paper. The heart should be medium sized compared to the large white paper. This red heart is the person's face, which the students add features to. Then they add a body and details - Hair, jewelry, a microphone, a hockey stick, basketball, etc. with their crayons. They write the name of their person at the bottom. I hope this helps.

I just found this idea on another website that sounds fun. It incorporates candy hearts and letter writing.

My teammate and I always like to trace our student's profiles onto black paper (using an overhead to cast their shadow). You could put these up on a bulletin board and have the students write clues about themselves. We then number the shadows and have the students guess who is who. They turn out SO cute!

Don't You Just Love...?

Is the title of the Feb. BB I just put up. I offered all students and staff in our building the opportunity to finish the sentence, Don't You Just Love...? I then rewrite their sentence ending to a paper heart. The board is colorful and interesting to read. The board also involved staff and students love to read their writing. ex: Don't you just love the smell of bread baking in the oven?
Don't you just love a good BB idea?

I know it's a little late but since February is Black History month and Valentines Day is on the 14th, I used this title: Black History is in our hearts. We cut out red and pink hearts and the students researched a famous African American and placed a picture and a brief summary of that person's achievement in the heart.
