My kids are 4 1/2, 6 1/2, and 8 1/2. First 2 are boys, oldest is a girl. I would love to hear some ideas of things you would put in their stockings. I feel like every year I am just finding any old thing to put in them and not giving it much thought.

My list for this year includes:
toothbrush/toothpaste
book
small toy

Not a big fan of candy and sweets, but a fun candy that could become a tradition would be fine....maybe something from another country that I can get at World Market or something?

We like to put in fun pens, funky notebooks, earrings, bubble bath, chap stick, lip gloss, jewellery, tooth paste, small books, and an ornament for their tree.

I stock up on those little things. Stockings are my favorite!! I don't think it really matters what is in there, it is just the idea of all the little treasures in there!! For my boys (6 and 2)we are doing:

Electric toothbrush
some candy
hex bug
slinky
stickers
crayons
google play store gift cards (for 6 year old)
wooden train and truck

Growing up we would always get an orange in our stocking (I think it's a German tradition), a gold coin, and a comic book. Sometimes crayons and colored pencils along with a coloring book, how to draw book, or a sketch pad (my sisters and I were really into art). My mom always put in candy canes too. Love the toothbrush idea. Fun!
For your boys, what about a little toy car? A small Lego set? For the girl, maybe a tiny doll or some doll clothes? (I don't know if they sell tiny dolls but they used to when we were little.)

I always put Chapstick in the stockings. I also buy ornaments each year. When the children are off to their own homes, they will have a bunch of ornaments to decorate their own trees. My mom did that for us and it was really cool. When I had my first apartment, she gave me my ornaments in a box.
For my nephews, I try to out the date on each ornament so that they can look back and remember that year.
I also put in little packets of hot chocolate and little toys, like the table puzzles at Cracker Barrel or a little 3d jigsaw puzzle. This year, I think I got some Madlibs too.

Mine are 7, 9, and 11. Right now I have for them a glass water bottle for their lunch boxes (filled with hershey kisses), a deck of cards, funky pen, some jewelry and nail polish for dd, small ball for the boys, pez dispenser, a t-shirt, duck tape, and a sports bra for dd. I'd also like to find a small game (dice or cards or something).

Last year on Shutterfly I made them each a deck of cards that had their picture on the back - they loved those!
