When grading a writing response...should that be graded under comprehension or more for writing purposes?

What are they responding to? Personally, I think it should be graded on both, as the requirement is that response must be written.

I will still grade it for both. Our writing curriculum includes a unit on Literary Response. Itís a vital form of writing. Maybe weight it more towards comprehension......but if itís poorly written, you wonít truly understand how much and how deep they comprehend.
