Does anyone use IXL.com in their classroom? What do you use it for? My team is interested in it but not sure - it's rather costly.

I use it in my classroom. I assign certain skills for my student to practice. If the student gets an answer wrong, it give the student a mini-lesson.

My district has a subscription for the math part of IXL.

I use it for math rotations when they have technology. I tell them which skills I want to work on.

I use it as reinforcement for the skills I teach and also for remediation if a student is struggling with a skill. There is a diagnostic tool that will let students answer questions and you can see the areas in which they need a little more challenge and the areas in which they are struggling. I use the diagnostics feature as morning work. I teach language arts, but the math teacher uses it in similar ways. IXL is offering free webinars from now through November if you want to learn more about certain features. (Not sure if you can join without already having a membership or not.)

Thank you! It seems like a great way to supplement and differentiate instruction.

i used it in the past for students to practice (free) 10 questions on a certain skill.

sometimes if there were 2 skills to practice, i would pair kids up, have them get into ixl and then as a pair solve 10 problems on one computer and then 10 on the other person's.

in the spring i bought a subscription--had a couple people donate to my classroom fund.

and i have used it a ton! (i don't assign anything or track or....) i also like to be able to tell parents: this week your kid could be working on set "whatever" i'll definitely be subscribing for next year!

Thanks! I'm going to try it out - I like the idea of pairing students together!
