Almond milk and an upset tummy

I tried some sweetened almond milk a while ago and it seemed to upset my stomach/digestive system a little. I recently tried some unsweetened almond milk and it seemed to happen again. Does anyone else have issues with almond milk? (Or maybe thatís not really the culprit.)

Actually I have a very nervous stomach and went to almond mild ( from skim milk) about five years ago. Hope it isnít the almond milk and that you feel better quickly.

I've gone to Coconut Milk products when I have an upset stomach and it helps improve it!

I am no expert on any kind of milk but an upset stomach is the worst! Hope you are feeling better by now!

I don't drink milk of any kind, but I wonder if the almond milk you drank has any additives in it. You can easily make your own. Then you'll know what is in it.

It could be the additives. I have no problem with regular milk, but I just thought that it might be the almond milk since that is the only thing that I have added to my diet recently. Most people seem to love it, but maybe my body just says "nope".

Does it have carrageenan in it? It's a seaweed derivative that is used as a thickener in some almond milk. It upsets my stomach.

I looked and it doesn't have carrageenan in it. Maybe it wasn't even the almond milk that upset my stomach, but it was just a pattern that I noticed.

Unsweetened

I buy the unsweetened almond milk. I just use it when I eat cereal for breakfast every morning. I donít know if that would make any difference for you to try the unsweetened. I also use the unsweetened almond milk when I make a fruit smoothie. It has never upset my stomach.

I just reread your post and you stated that you had tried the unsweetened version as well. I hope you figure out the item that is bothering your stomach.
