My husband and I just got back from 5 days in Zion. Angels Landing was EPIC! I would hike that every day if I could! If you have any fear of heights, it would probably suck, but I love scrambly hikes. And yes, I hiked it in Chacos. This is my happy face:

This pic shows WHY I say heights could be an issue...the trail goes up the spine and, at a few points, it is about 2 feet wide with 1,000 foot drop offs on either side. It has some 1500 foot elevation gain in about 2.5 miles.

I would never use poles here, they'd just get in the way hauling up the chains. Lemme find a pic of the chains.

A cold front went through right when we arrived; we saw a low of 20. Day time temps were perfect for hiking.

OMG I am so glad you posted these pictures. One of my best memories is hiking Angel's Landing with my mom (whom I miss often). I am fairly scared of heights. Death grip on the chains, eyes carefully fixed on my feet. Thanks for sharing.

Great photos! Thanks for posting them. Happy to hear that you had a great hike.

I have done Angels Landing twice, and would have done it a third time but the trail was closed due to icy snow. As you said, it is not for people who have acrophobia. That little ridge with the chains is scary! And people have died hiking the trail. Earlier this year a man fell to his death, and last year a 13-year-old girl.

You do look like you had much fun. I can't do heights. I can only find excitement in others' adventures when it comes to height.

cvt, probably more people have died crossing the street in front of my house. It's just more dramatic to fall off a mountain, lol.

Zia

Do you realize that you always get endless compliments/interesting replies when you post travel pics? Each pic offers so much for the viewer.

I think you and your husband could write a book/travel guide with all your photos of your travels and hikes.

Rick Steves is known for his European travel guide tv shows, books, and dvds. You and your husband could be known for America's Hiking Guide experts. Oh the possibilities!!

You could both retire from your present jobs start new careers!

Very happy! I'm glad you and your DH could get away and enjoy the great outdoors. You are very brave to walk across that narrow ridge of stone!

Lazy Lake, I actually debated starting a backpacking for women company with classes and guided tours. I love to share our adventures!

Our next bucket list hike is from the North Rim to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon...23 miles!

Sprite, a cold front hit right when we arrived and overnight temps were in the low 20s. And we were in a tent. Daytime temps were PERFECT for hiking, though!

When we hiked the Narrows the next morning, my hands were so cold, I nearly cried. 22 degrees is about 60 degrees below my comfort level. Still worth it!

calumet, those are the Z 2/Classic. I only wear the super sexy Ininji when it's cold! I'm looking to invest in a pair with Terreno soles. These don't do so well on scree.
