I discovered that you can read No More, I'm Done by Jennifer Jacobson online at Stenhouse:

I can't believe they've left it up for so long. It's a great read. I had to have a paper copy to mark up. Mine has notes throughout. Maybe that's why they left it up: They knew it wouldn't hurt their sales; anyone interested in reading it is going to buy a hard copy.

I always want my own copy so I can make notes as I read, too. I'm probably not going to buy this one though because it's geared toward primary students. I teach 5th graders, but I certainly did find lots of interesting, relevant information. I hope Stenhouse leaves it up long enough for me to get back to it and read some more.

but just got around to reading it. I did a first reading just to get the overall picture and now I'm going back to formulate some plans to get started in the fall and make sure I have some of the books I'll need handy. I'm really excited about it...I am going to make D5 style charts with the kids..I know that they will work so well together.

I started reading this book online too....I had to have my own copy as well. I think it's great they put new books up and I think most of us end up with our own copies once we get hooked....great marketing on Stenhouse's part.

Had to have my own paper copy so I can highlight, underline and make notes to myself.

Question about book

If you use Daily 5 is there a way to use the format in this book during Daily 5. So for Work on writing, could they do the Quiet 10 and then have an area to talk to each other, edit, etc? I am having a hard time fitting writing in so will this work?

I teach 5th grade. Would this book be appropriate or is it more for primary grades?

I teach 4th and 5th graders. In my opinion, it's more primary but definitely filled with ideas that can be used as-is or adapted for upper elementary. Read some (or all) online and see what you think.

Is there a sequence to the type of writing students complete after the mini lesson? Not sure if it follows Caulkin's writing. Thank you

Thanks for the info! How applicable is it to kindergarten when you are just beginning to teach phonetic spelling?

I think the book was very kindergarten friendly and it is a wise investment to make. I teach special needs and I have read the book and I am now going back to make notes

but after reading the chapter titles, uploaded it to my Kindle. I may regret not being able to mark it up, but I can start reading it tonight! Thanks for the inspiration!
