I have taught 2 for 14 years and 3rd the last two. Next year will be 18 2nd graders and 8 third graders. What suggestions do you have for managing 2 sets of curriculum/routines when possible. Any definite do's or don't ideas are welcome too. I am excited about the challenge, but am worried that I can't fit it all into a day. I tend to be an overachiever so I need to set realistic outcomes for myself.
Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Our school was "blessed" with several combos every year. The one thing that made it bearable was sending one of the grade levels to their own grade fir math. I would suggest dividing your third graders between two teachers if possible. It was the only way both grades could get their full curriculum.

We used readers and writers workshops so LA was blended together.

Thank you.
Sadly we also have a 3/4 (8 third graders and 18 fourth) so it's going to be an extra busy year.

I am probably going to be doing most lessons in a workshop model for both reading and math. I can get a chance to work with a leveled 6-8 at a time with one mini lesson and then a more in depth few minutes for the third graders after 2nds are released.

Either I'll lose that 10 pounds from stress or add another 10 pounds from eating. But wait....that's also from stress.
