Retirement Sundays

I love Sundays. It is 12:15 pm, and I'm still in my pajamas. I don't have to get ready for school this week. I can do grocery shopping and errands whenever I want. I'm relaxed and looking forward to the week ahead.

Retirement is glorious.

Always smile when people tell me "Have a nice weekend!" Retirement is having a weekend every day.

It's been almost 5 years since I retired, but I still remember those horrible Sunday afternoons and evenings. There was also so much pressure to get everything done and I would always wait until Sunday to start. Many times I had to go into the school to print out computer generated stuff or gather materials together.
Today it is pouring down rain, cool, and I am sitting here enjoying the Super Bowl activities in my warm house. No stress Sundays forever!

How is being in your pjs til noon and then doing what ever you want different than every other day of retirement?

How funny to read this now. I just told a friend how wonderful it is to feel relaxed and happy on Sunday evenings. I am joyful.

As I was watching the Super Bowl and the post-game festivities last night, it was so nice not to have to worry about what time it was. I could enjoy my snacks at my neighbor's house and relax, knowing I could go to bed whenever I wanted and get up when I wanted. I got up after 8 A.M. today, had a leisurely breakfast, went to the gym and had time for a walk. If I were teaching, the Sunday into Monday would look very different.

You are so right, retirement IS glorious!

I was thinking the very same thing yesterday- that I can just lounge around all Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening and not give a single thought about what was going to happen the following week. My last five years I taught second grade and I went to school every Sunday to make sure everything was run off and ready to go. I don’t miss that stress anymore at all. Retirement is heaven!

I always hated Sunday evening in particular. It was always tiring thinking about another week ahead.
