OMG My insurance issue is fixed!

I complained about this before, sorry. Last year I spent many hours on the phone trying to get my insurance company to switch me from my old location to my new medical coverage here, and then I gave up in January, prepared to lose my $94.42 monthly retiree benefit from DH’s employer. Just now I happened to check my account (which I used to do obsessively—until I gave up) and discovered the problem has been fixed. I’m walking on air.

Good to hear. I’ve found that the wheels of insurance negotiations turn very slowly.

Yeah, I'm glad you persevered! They don't expect people to keep at it, hoping that you'll give up because it takes so much time and red tape.

Sometimes I think it takes so long to solve insurance problems because the person on the phone has only been trained to handle x number of issues. If it isn't on their training sheet they say it can't be done. Glad you has success.

So true, mhugs! We seem to be controlled by scripts. People are rarely allowed to think outside their listed options.

And another yes to cvt. Even though I eventually gave up, I’d had a couple of experiences that gave me hope. I really think the long-sappy-heartfelt-desperate letter I finally wrote to DH’s employer (who pays for this) begging them to not let the benefits company cancel me is what did the trick. That and finally finding 1 employee at the benefits company who understood the problem and whose boss told him to fix it.

Thanks, friends, you can’t know how relieved I am to have this done.

I think your persistence finally paid off! Someone relented, and the bureaucracy gave way.
