Baptism gift

My nephew (1st one!) has his baptisim coming up. I am not the godmother but would still like to give a thoughtful gift. Does anyone have any suggestions, as this is the first baptism I will be attending.

My sister and brother-in-law got my son a Precious Moments Bible. My sister wrote a beautiful message on the inside. He loved it when he got a little older and now that he's an adult wants it to keep at his house.

A religious saint medal is a nice gift. My boys received a medal with a pin of their patron saint to wear that day. I still have them. If they decide to name a son after them, I will pass it along. Another gift is to take pictures and make a photo book after the baptism. A colleague's cousin did this and it was appreciated. Enjoy the day!

It might make a difference what denomination...is it an infant baptism? Catholic?

I am assuming an infant baptism here...

For a Catholic baptism, you could give a lovely keepsake of a religious nature: a rosary, for example, or a prayer book, or a crucifix or holy water font for his bedroom wall, or a medal of a saint with the same name.

Generic Christian gifts:
-a tiny cross to wear (probably not for the baby, but something he can wear as he gets older)
-a bible
-a lovely picture frame with a photo of him with his parents and godparents, in his baptismal clothes.
-a children's book of bible stories

A card with some money for his bank account or education fund is always a good choice.

The Jesus Storybook Bible is by far one of the best collection of Bible stories books for kids. My son has like 5 - haha.

Perhaps a small gift he would enjoy (now or later) and a donation to the church in his honor? Congratulations on your nephew's baptism! And in the future just as idea. Since you are the godmother each year on his baptism birthday (or anniversary whichever you want to call it) send him a card and small gift.

Thank you all for your suggestions! I completely forgot about the children's bible stories! I remember reading mine when I was a child. I also like the idea of the Precious Moments (love them!)
