Recently discovered site I am excited to use this year

I was shown this site at a training I went to this summer and thought it was a really neat and quick interactive resource. The site is www.wallwisher.com

Basically, you can set up a "wall" with a topic and your students can add a note and instantly stick it on the wall. There are an endless amount of ways that you could utilize this both academically and for a few mintues of fun. Here is a wall I set up to show you how it works. Visit it and add an idea you have that wallwisher could be used for.

If you have the ability to have several students on a computer at once, and you have the website projected onto your screen/whiteboard, students can instantly see what others are posting and writing. I can't wait to use this to do brainstorming for writing prompts, describing photos, giving a happy birthday wish to someone, sharing ways to study spelling words, etc.... I won't say anymore, but you can add your ideas to this wall here:

This seems so simple, yet it can really be used for a lot of different things. I was introduced to this during a Technology and Reading course for my masters. Simple yet effective. I'm interested to see how others would use this!

I can't wait to use this! This is my first year having a promethean board and this will enable so many possibilities! The 1st that came to mind is my bucket-filler idea....the whole class can see what positive things their classmates say about them to fill their bucket!

Thank you for sharing!

This looks really neat! Thanks for sharing!!

Do the kids have to log on to be able to post something and have their name on the sticky? I was trying to think of a way to let kids put up their ideas or input and then project it onto the smartboard.

they do not have to login to post on the wall, but it will show up as anonymous. So, just have them type their name at the end of their message.

Thank you, Thank you! What a great way to incorporate technology into the classroom. I think I am going to have it as a Center activity to start--Word Work. I have different Vocab activities that I can transfer to this and the students will enjoy this more than paper and pencil.

I can't wait to use it...I don't consider myself an idea person, so I love to join the brainstorming to get my juices flowing.

Thanks again!

I was going to do the exact same thing o. Orientation day.
I will have a computer for them to type what they are looking forward to in Fourth grade and have it build on the smart board. You can even let parents add notes or thoughts!

Nikki, I think I am a little technophobic. I figured out how to make my own page, but when I get onto that page, of course all the notes have my "nickname" attached. Don't you have to make your own page to get started? Did you just skip the nickname? Sorry I don't get it. I hope someone doesn't mind helping me.

The nickname will only show up if you post while you are logged in. Once you create your wall you or anyone else can go to the website of the wall and add comments/notes. A nickname will only show up if someone is logged on to their own wallwisher account. Otherwise it will show as anonymous. You don't have to have an account to post.
For your students or anyone else to post, they will just go to the web address created for that wall.
I love that I can have multiple walls under my account for different topics and ideas. That way we can go back to them the next day or whenever to review or remember something. You are not limited to just the first page you created.
Hope that helps. I am loving all the ideas you have posted!

So once you create a page you could give the web address to another teacher (like your class pen pals) and they could add ideas to it?? A cool way to connect!

I think you can take a screen shot of the wall and then post it say on your website. Just be sure to give the site credit. It won't be interactive anymore, but it's more visual than just a link on your webpage.
