Handicapped Parking Tag

I had knee surgery at the beginning of the summer. I am still in tremendous amount of pain due to what he found to be a lot of arthritis and my muscles are tight af in the IT band area. My other knee has arthritis too. It only acted up occasionally before. Now, it hurts all the time too. Im in PT and just started accupunture.

It is very difficult to walk and be on my feet. I am back at work and for those that dont know, I am a Media Specialist in a huge library. Do you think I can ask my doctor for a handicapped parking tag to alleviate the walking when I need to go to the stores?

Definitely ask!!

The worst you'll get is a no.

I think the RMV are the ones that allocate them, though. I believe you may be eligible for a temporary one.

Your doctorís office may need to fill out the form. I hope you are on the road for a speedy recovery.

I had an unexpected hip replacement a few years ago due to a fall. I was able to get a 5 month handicapped parking tag from my doctor. When I was still having issues she extended it for another 3 months. When I went to our Secretary of State office to get the new tag , the woman there actually extended it for another 6 months. You will probably have to go in and speak directly with your doctor, but I am guessing she will do the paperwork for a temporary handicapped pass.

Yes! Yes! Speak to your doctor to get the proper paperwork. Review the paperwork for completion. If you have AAA, you can go there to get your tag. In my area, AAA is quicker than DMV.

Iíve had five temporary ones because of my knees (both are knee replacements). I will most likely ask for a permanent one soon.

Absolutely! And you should!

Both my DS and I have had temporary handicap tags after surgery.

Yes, absolutely, get a handicapped tag. We have a couple of teachers who use them in the school parking lot for their daily parking because of mobility issues.

Absolutely! IMO your condition is exactly what handicapped parking is for. Please do it.

I should have asked for one when DH was ill, but I wasnít thinking straight.

Iím sorry youíre having so much pain. Please do whatever it takes to help yourself. Thinking of you.

Oh yes, definitely ask. At the least, you should be able to get a TEMPORARY handicapped placard, which is the red-colored one (as opposed to blue). I'm actually surprised your dr didn't at least authorize the temp type.
