Jigsaw Puzzle random question

We usually do just do one or two puzzles in the winter. I find it interesting that DH mainly focuses on the puzzle piece shape while I mainly go by shades of coloring. Those of you that do puzzles what is your “style” ?

Uh oh, I both. I start with shape to do all the edges, then I go by color for the interior.

I do 1 online jigsaw puzzle every evening—so relaxing.

I usually start with color, but when it gets tough, revert to shape.

Just finished my break puzzle. Trying to decide whether to start another one (will only be here a couple of days, so it will be a finish over weekends puzzle. Normally I do a smaller one, but I bought a big one for the next one...

I find that doing them gets harder as I get older. That makes me sad. It is harder for me to see the pieces and the colors. Lighting is an issue.

he and I and his GF and two friends put two puzzles together. One was a map from Lord of the Rings and was basically two colors with random diagrams and words in that language, whatever it was. The other was one that included cats and books.

I couldn't help but notice that the Millennials (i.e., everyone except me) all focused on trying to put together the various pictures and words separately. I never really looked at the pictures, but focused on both the shapes and colors of the pieces. I tend to study what the piece should look like to fit with the other piece.

P.S. My method was much quicker and I often could pull a piece out of the group and just put it where it belonged, with no false tries. Yeah, I'm good.

We find all the border pieces first. Then sort all like colors into pans. Next work with both color and shapes to fill in. My 8 year old granddaughter uses shapes exclusively and can work lickety split! I constantly refer to the puzzle picture to work.

I do a daily puzzle on-line. It depends on my mood and the picture to determine what I do first.

The other day I read about a lady who was thrilled that she finished her jigsaw puzzle in a few days because the box said 4-8 years.

Working on a 1000 piece puzzle right now. I use both color and shape. I sort the pieces by colors and then by shape within each color - makes it much easier to find pieces. I'm about 1/2 finished.

First edges by shape. Then it's a mix. I look within a certain color group for the right shape.
I usually do a puzzle or two during break and didn't get the chance this year. Might be time to find one to do in the evenings!
