Well with the exception of bulletin boards and a few other odds and ends. I can't wait for my students to arrive on the first day!

I saw another teacher at a school I visited that had these bucket stools. They were about 5.00 a piece. Best buy ever!

I thought I was going to be able to do away with the desk this year as there was not one in my classroom the day before I moved in. I guess it was delivered by the desk fairy that evening. *sigh*

Tech department won't move the computer tables into the configuration I would like. Therefore, I have to make due with the waste of space in this area. It's a work in progress.

Lucky You

You are lucky to be able to bring in furniture. Our fire department will not allow any cloth chairs or stuffed chairs. Only 20% of our classroom walls may be covered with any type of material or paper-that includes our bulletin boards. Makes for a pretty plain looking room. No curtains are allowed either. We cannot hang anything from the ceiling.
I am envious as to what you can do to make your room comfy and inviting!

Your classroom is very well organized. Are your students grouped by colors? I liked the idea of using the different colors for each table. Looks Good!

We actually had a crackdown in our district two years ago and we were told no microwaves or refrigerators in our rooms. At the time I was working at a school that was in district but a different town so we still got to keep these things. As for the wall covering, we can have up to 60 percent covered but can have nothing 10 inches from the ceiling. I did have a couch in my previous classroom that I didn't bring over to the new campus because I wasn't sure how it would fit into the configuration. As for the curtains, I am probably going to take them down. They were left by the previous teacher (so will see if she wants them back). I like to have a lot of natural light since I like to usually keep half of the lights off.

I start back on August 9th. I am a total over achiever. I spend the last week of the school year setting up for the next school year. The students love to help clean and organize the room. All I have to do is work on lesson plans and put names on the desks.

What kinds of things do you include on the wire racks for each group? Also, where did you get the wire racks from? I'm trying to figure out how to put supplies at each table group and I like your approach. Please tell me more. Thanks!

I am actually buying scrap booking organization boxes from target to put on the wire shelves. This way they will always have lined paper and copy paper. (tried to find a pic online but couldn't) There is also an accordion folder at each shelf for them to put their finished assignments in by subject. The book boxes will have a tag on each bucket with the science, social studies, science, and LA. I will place the daily materials needed for the activities we will do for that day. The crates will have hanging file folders with each students name. This is where I will place their graded work that they take home each Tuesday. It is my goal this year to be more organized and use my after school time to prep for the next day. I believe by them already having their materials, I will have more instructional and cooperative grouping time. I teach in a dual language setting so my students rotate out of my room every two days. I absolutely need to maximize the time I have with them. Ohh and as for the wire shelves. I believe I got one at walmart and the other at target. They were super easy to put together.

Question For Shadan

I love the way you organized the black shelves at the end of your table groups. That was one of my goals for the new school year. I have student's materials in one box at the end of each table but notebooks end up messy or torn. I also tend to trip over those boxes as well. I was wondering what else you store on those shelves for kids? I am guessing notebooks, independent reading books, etc. Excellent job organizating the materials. I am going to dash over to Target and Walmart and see if I can locate those black shelves. Thanks again for sharing.

3 Targets

It took me going to 3 different Targets today but I got my black wire shelves. I wanted black and of course, they didn't have the number I needed at each of the stores. Anyway, it gave me a chance to look at dollar bin sections. Thanks for the input. I'm super excited to try these at my table groups. Thanks for posting pictures and explaining in more details your organization. Good luck this year!
