Match scam

I just got scammed on Match!! Not bad but last night I was talking to a guy, some red flags he asked me if I owned a house or rented? I told him I didnít feel comfortable answering. He kept pressing the issue, then he asked for my number I said no. He kept contradicting himself, and he said we could be one big happy family, I thought was weird! I didnít tell him anything I would t tell a stranger but still I feel stupid. Oh I reversed looked up his image and ya itís an image scammers are using. I hate online dating!!! I met my ex in high school everyone knew one another so could warn you about their past or if they were a good person... ugh

That's awful. If you can report him, you should. I feel the same way about people anymore. How are you to know who you can trust when you hear so many crazy things like this? You shouldn't feel stupid though. You didn't do anything wrong.

I hope you meet someone nice. I'm glad you're being careful.

Iíve done like allll the online dating sites at this point- and you should be able to report, but that doesnít help you feel less taken advantage of.

Iíve caught many guys on there lying or scamming- you definitely have to be smart (the fact that you know to reverse image and google phone number is a good start).

Whatís sadder are the women that get much deeper into it- like giving them money.

Glad you figured it out quickly!

Absolutely be careful. I always use a reverse image search for images.
Donít let it scare you off, just be aware and watch personal info.

I was catfished by someone on Match. Took me 5 days to figure it out. Thank goodness I didn't give a lot of information about myself.

I think that online kind of meeting is really dangerous! Men lie. Even the best of them! Can you join any clubs, political, spiritual, or community groups? There are lots of nice men at the gym here who are known here.
My mom used to tell me that you never should be with or marry a guy until you see how he treats his mother.
Also, get to know their long term friends really well before letting yourself get involved with someone.
I wish I'd have listened to that advice. It would have saved me many yrs of my life in a relationship with someone who could lie like a rug.
Anyone can tell you anything on a computer and then you are dealing w/ that creepy factor of asking if you own your home.
I am not judging anything as I know a lot of young people use these sites because they are so busy w/work. Also, I spent most of my adult life w/ Mr. Wrong because I did not listen and took a leap w/out looking deep. I wish you the best in finding your match. Please just take it slow and be careful! <3

Definitely check them out

When I was dating 8/9 years ago, I used a people finder type site to at least check the basic info of anyone I was going to meet. You can verify their age, name, city, phone, etc. Then you know they're not completely fake or lying. Also check their social media.

I would definitely meet in public and not give out personal info.

Definitely report it to Match. They pride themselves on their super special technology (if the commercials are true ) and this is not the reputation they want.

I'm glad you were careful! I'd reverse look the image every time and do your own recon with others you talk to. Sorry this happened to you, but glad it didn't get further!

I tried Match, Tinder, and Plenty of Fish. Met some real doozies on each. I reported every one I suspected as a scam.

I did meet DH on PoF, so it was worth it.

Report It!

I agree with the others, report it - that's fishy!

BTW, you can meet weirdos anywhere. Bars, work, through friends, I think that assuming people online are weirdos is not fair (of course there are weirdos online too). I met my husband on Match 10 years ago - best decision I ever made!
