Small accomplishment—I’m so excited.

I was walking to get a haircut. I’m sure I looked spectacular in bad hair, shorts, and a tank top with my trusty hiking poles and visor (and Bombas and shades, of course). I was stopped on THREE different occasions by people asking for directions. The first miracle: I’ve lived here a little over a year, have a terrible sense of direction, and knew all 3 places. The 3rd person, a beautiful young woman, must have thought I was crazy when I burst out laughing.
“I’m so sorry,” I chortled. “You’re the 3rd person to ask for directions this morning.”
She smiled, “You look like you belong here.”
Call me ridiculous, but you can’t imagine what that means to me. Feels like an accomplishment. I look like I belong.

Do you have a accomplishment for today?

What a great feeling to finally feel connected to your new home! May you enjoy many years of walking, relaxing and sea gazing in your abode!

I don’t have an accomplishment for today, but one for yesterday.

My dogs' outdoor kennel (ten foot by ten foot) has a tarp roof. The tarp needed to be replaced so I can put the dogs safely inside when school starts next week. Removing the old tarp wasn’t too bad, but putting the new one on by myself was quite a task. I had a knee replacement in June so my balance and strength isn’t great. I was able to use a step ladder to lift that heavy tarp on the kennel frame and pulled it in place. It took a really long time. I was exhausted and hurting when done, but it’s complete now.

Time to order a back up tarp for next time!

Absolutely. And it counts double if you share them with me.

Arsabi
I admire your confident attitude in handling that tarp replacement, especially so recently after your knee replacement in June. That surgery was really not that long ago! Enjoy the rest of your evening and rest that knee!

It is past dinner time and I have not accomplished anything today. I haven't even eaten anything. ( I am on my 3rd cup of coffee.) I wish I had made chocolate chip cookies.
Congrats on finally looking like a local! I am assuming it is a compliment where you live. It would not be where I work.
I am about to accomplish something though. In 30 minutes, I am going to get out of my night gown, get dressed up, and go to meet friends in civilization for a small party.
I need to get it together so bad because school starts back up soon and I have so much I want to get done!

I finally got out of bed around noon. I got showered AND dressed.

Picked up my bamboo for another room.

Then came home and laid on the couch.

I finally brought the wood in (6 hours later). And skimmed one wall in the powder room where I removed wallpaper yesterday. Waiting a bit for it to dry so I can sand and skim another coat.

Happy to write it all out- it sounds like I did more than I did 😂

I have 2.
1. An easy call to Spectrum (which usually takes forever...) and hopefully the technician can fix the phone line tomorrow too.
2. I rode on a new (to me) bike trail and enjoyed the new scenery and different landscape. I felt a bit adventurous

I made the beds in my two guest rooms for my friend and her granddaughter who are arriving this afternoon. I washed the sheets weeks ago after having guests but hadn't put them back on the beds. I feel quite accomplished.

Yay for you amiga13 It is always a great feeling to feel welcome and part of a community. My small accomplishment is posting an invitation to grandmothers who watch their grandchildren and want to meet for a play day. I am hoping it is a once a week event.

I moved the entertainment armoire back into place.

It’s about five feet high, five feet wide, and two feet deep, solid wood—an expensive and heavy piece. It took two strapping guys using a dolly and then ropes and those furniture gliders to move it in when I bought it.

A few days ago a workman shifted it a few inches so he could reach where he needed to work. I was really surprised he was able to move it even that much, remembering the challenge it was when I first got it. When he finished working, I reminded him about moving the armoire back into place. He got it shifted back towards the wall, but somehow it was about four inches to the left of where it had been all these years. I pointed that out, and tried to help him move it over, but it wouldn’t budge. He said, “You’re not going to quibble over a few inches, are you? It looks better like this anyway.”

I tried to accept it these past few days, but decided today that no, it just wasn’t going to work. So I moved it. Little old lady petite-sized me, did it all by myself.
