NB Incentive

I'm just curious, when did you start receiving your "incentive" for national boards? NC will pay 12%, and I'm waiting until they update my license before I can start getting paid for it (plus backpay from August).

For anyone who has certified or knows, when did it happen for you?

It's going to depend on your district, but mine in New Mexico was on my second paycheck in January with back pay to July. That was a monster check! We get $6800/year of certification.

Mississippi is $6,000 year. I will receive my first NB payment on my check at the end of January (we're paid once/month). We receive reimbursement for all components once the process is complete regardless of if we certify. Sadly, there is no back pay.

in my state it's an automatic $5,000/year, but if you teach in a Title I school like me, it gets increased to $10,600/year. It's always paid in our July paychecks in one lump sum. The state requires payments to be processed to use before August 31.

I am also in NC, and certified this year. My district sent out an email and said it could be December but also January. (Gotta love getting paid once a month ) From what we have been told we are not getting our step back pay until January, so I am going to assume it will probably be around that same time for NB backpay as well.

I did check, and saw my district had updated my salary to reflect NB in my Employee Self Service portal and that made me really happy!

Other NB colleagues in my school started receiving their new pay in January and back pay in February. I am guessing it does depend on the district.

Wow! I'm jealous of these incentives. I'm in a state that offers nothing. I received no help going through the process, nor do I receive anything now that I've certified. It's just been a personal goal of mine to become a NBCT so I did it on my own.
