I really need some help on this part of comp 4 [Cert area-Early Adol. Science]. I am struggling real bad to come up with a PLN and SN.
Anyone doing science and can offer insights? I am drawing a blank right now.

Thanks.

What could YOU and/ or your colleagues learn that would help kids? What do the kids are your school need? Look to deficits.

You aren't limited to your roster for these and they can but don't have to relate to each other or to your unit/assessments.

Oh and keep in mind, for the SN you need to show leadership, advocacy, and/or leadership.

Thanks Zia. I teach science but the kids I have now their State Math test scores was 33% pass. I have asked to have a group of the lowest performing ones for Math tutoring. Can I use that as a SN?

i based my SN off of helping a population of students who still needed to pass a state assessment to graduate. i got a couple of other teachers with similar numbers of non-passing students in their classes to work with me, and we all shared our growth data.

so yeah, you can use that, but only if math is connected to your "practice". is it?

if so, it's one of about 149282 ways to do it. good luck!

Or is there a math standard that the test results show that the students have done poorly in that also applies to science that you could use? I teach SS and for my SN, I used the ELA test results that showed students struggled making a claim (which is also a SS standard) from the ELA-History Common Core, as our state SS test does not test on that standard. I also collaborated with the ELA teacher on establishing this need.
