Camping in southern Michigan

Can anyone recommend a good campground in southern Michigan? I am looking for somewhere to take my wife and daughter (2 years old) this summer...early August. We will be tent camping, but need an electric hookup and shower/flush toilets. I can look places up on-line, but would like to hear some personal recommendations.

Thanks.

I don't know where in Michigan you want to be, but there is a Jellystone Park near Fremont IN, which is close to the Michigan border. Perfect for a 2 year old.

that you were asking for Southern Michigan, but what about the Indiana Dunes State Park. Is that too far away? I have fond memories of visiting there when I was a kid. I moved away from the area 24 years ago, so I can't say how it is now.

Pokagon State Park in Indiana is awesome! We live in MI and went there...lots of trails, water, electric hook ups and running water. We tented it and were very happy there!

The CRC Conference Grounds in Grand Haven is a great option. It is church based and has lots of activities for kids. It is on Lake Michigan and also has its own pool.

Thanks. We live in Chicago and are making a trip there in June. Just looking for other options. We love the Dunes.

Pokagon Is Awesome

I 2nd Pokagon! I teach close by, and have signed out due to I might be found. It's an Indiana State Park and is very clean. It borders Lake James, a very large lake with million dollar + homes, and has a nice beach for swimming. There are nice hiking trails, in addition to horse back riding in the park. The only downside to camping is there too many deer and racoons, so pack your food accordingly, or it well be ate by critters. Outside of the park, there is a lot to explore. There two wineries, (Satek has awesome blueberry wine!), an outlet mall and a buffalo farm nearby. There is a small ice cream stand in Fremont that has ice cream to die for, and is a great trip its self. I highly recommend it!!!
