I went to a reading first institute this summer. One of the presenters gave us examples of having names of real world jobs as our classroom jobs. This will help the children get familiar with the names of different jobs. I thought this idea was really good and I am going to use it. If someone didn't do their job he would fire them just like in the real world but game them the opportunity to choose another job they felt they could do. Here is what our team at school has come up with.

conductor-line leader
nutritionist-breakfast helper
librarian-straighten up books in library
fireman-grabs fire bucket when fire alarm sounds
RN-helps take students to nurse
LVN-in charge of hand sanitizer
custodian-sweep up mess on floors
custodian-pick up all trash
courier-take notes to office
hotel manger-put manipulatives in the manipulative hotel away (this is a container that has extra manipulatives that students aren't sure where they go)
electrician-turns off and on lights
technology specialist-turns off and on computers
caterer-carries basket with lunch kits to cafeteria
chef-snack helper
classroom manager-teachers helper
secretary-pencil sharpener
meterologist-tells what the weather is for the day
loss prevention specialist-takes items to lost and found

there are a few more but i can't think of them off the top of my head....i am really curious to see how this is going to turn out
