Which one should I get? I really want some type of e-book device and saved all of my birthday and christmas money to get one..now I just don't know which to get!

The ipad is basically out of my price range and I don't like how big and bulky it is What are your thoughts?

If you're not wanting bulk, Kindle's the smallest. The biggest perk (I think) to the Nook is the fact that it's backlit, but then you have to think about how you would feel reading on basically a laptop screen all the time. The Kindle really and truly looks like you're reading a regular book. And if you get the cover with the light built in, you won't have to worry about reading in the dark.

Several of my students have Nooks. I find them to be much more complicated than the kindle. My MIL also has a nook. It takes her much longer to download books than it does for me on my kindle.

My mom bought herself an iPad and gave me her Kindle. I like it okay. The biggest con is that it doesn't have a backlight and the biggest pro is that it is light enough to hold with one hand!

I am a Kindle girl, all the way. It fits in my purse, the eInk doesn't hurt my eyes or glare in the sun. I like that it is just an ereader. I don't need to check my mail on it or surf the web or play any apps. I just want to read.

I have the regular Nook, not the Nook Color. I prefer mine because I don't like the lit up screen that Nook Color has. I like it to look like a page from a real book. That's just personal preference, however. What I really like about the Nook (both versions, I think) is that you can borrow ebooks from the library. I think this is also available to Sony, but not Kindle as far as I know. I don't think you can go wrong no matter what you choose.

I'm glad to see you posting again. I hadn't seen anything from you for awhile. I don't think I've ever responded to your posts before, but I've always noticed them.

Agree with mrs_c and kutia. Love my Kindle for exactly those reasons! I have the cover with the built-in light, and I do feel like I'm reading a book. I'm at the point now, that I'd rather read from Kindle than a real book - never thought that would happen!

I got a kindle for Christmas and love it. I got a light for it at Costco-just a little LED light on a bendable arm and it works fantastic!

They just released the options to share/borrow books on the Kindle over the Christmas holidays! Hooray!

I love my Nook color! Never had any problems with the backlit screen (in fact, you can turn it down to the brightness that you want) and downloading only takes about a minute. I carry mine in my purse everyday, not heavy at all.

mrs_c, that's wonderful! If I were out to buy Nook/Kindle again, it would be a toss-up. I had heard that Kindles can share books now, but I didn't know for sure if that worked with the library option (which is often Overdrive). You've cleared that up for me!

Nook Wi-fi (not color)

I can see the advantages to the Nook Color, but I am like bGracie. I like it to look like a real book. I just use a clip on light when I want to read in bed. I love to read outside in the yard, in a lounge chair, on nice sunny days and I think an e-ink screen is better for that. Mine was a gift so I didn't have a choice, but it's what I would have picked anyway.

Good luck in your decision!

a sony ereader and it is small. I like it because it is basic. I don't need all that fancy shmancy stuff.

I vote Sony as well! I've had a 505 for over 2 years and it's almost the most perfect ereader ever Now I have my sight set on a 650.

The Kindle is smaller and lighter and has a way better battery life than the Nook. I love mine!
