I can Standards Form

Clip to ScrapBook #1

My school district is going to a friendly (kids) version of our standards. I cansÖÖ.Iím suppose to have a form for the students to look at to see what they have mastered and what they still need to work on. I was not sure if any other district was doing the same. If your district is, what kind of form (forms) are you using? Iím stuck (need ideas) and really did not want to make another form to use if someone else has already made one. Please, help me. Thank you.

our district has one. I work in a private school, but I use the district's I can statements for both parents and students. I have them posted on my website. Here's the link:

My school district wants them in the classroom but did not have them for us. They wanted the teacher themselves to make them. Thanks for the idea though.

converting all or paring down?

Is your school district converting all the state standards into I Cans or are they going through a depth over breadth process where they pare down the standards and then convert into I Cans?

Just curious as our school is getting ready to undergo a paring down process.

Thanks.

Each grade level got together and we pared down what we thought were the essential standards. Each grade level choose about 10 standards for math and 10 for reading. Our district then gave everyone a list of essential standards. Then told all the teachers to test them on the essential standards but the teachers themselves have to make the test and forms for the students to keep track of what they have mastered and what they are still working on. Make sure you check with your district, how they plan on evaluating the students for the I canís? There are 62 first grade teachers in my district and we all evaluate the students differently. Even at my own school there are 6 teachers and we do it differently. No help from our District office.
