Do you have lots of goblins?

Trick or Treating hours will end in 10 minutes. My doorbell has rung less than a dozen times. Outside lights are on, sidewalk and porch are cleared and swept, drapes open, cars on far side of driveway, and the weather is wonderful. Where are all the kids? I have noticed each year we get less children but we have a subdivision full of grade school aged kids and younger. When my kids were young enough to go out on Halloween DH always volunteered to take them so he didn't have to stand at the door for 3 hours! How is the trick or treating where you live? Do kids go to parties instead of neighborhoods?

The church and volunteer fire company on the main road started a trunk or treat last year. Since they started, we get maybe a handful of kids...my doorbell rang 5 times tonight...lights are off now.

I live in the boonies. Nobody even bothers.

Our community has Trick or Treat Trot at the high school track, so most people really don't go to houses anymore anyway. My road doesn't have street lights or sidewalks. Too dangerous to try to come to houses here.

Lots of kids and they started pretty early about 4:00. It is 7:30 and it has finally slowed down. I am turning the light off at 8.

I had so many kids, that I ran out of candy! I didn't even get to try any! I've never run out of candy in the 15 years that I've lived here. I did notice that some of the kids were from other towns (they wore football jerseys, cheerleading outfits, and coats with other towns names). Parents were driving up and unloading kids out of vans!

We have only had 3 kids!! We live in a subdivision that's in 3 sections. Our section is the farthest back and wooded on the side that borders the closest section. My neighbor and I took our boys to the main part of the subdivision and there were oodles of kids swarming all over. We told several people to head over to our part, but to no avail....

going door to door tonight. Just left a bowl of candy outside our own door, but it seemed like there was a lot more kids out this year. I really have not seen this many since I was a kid! It is nice to see it!

I had 140 at my door. I was prepared as the number has been slowly increasing over the years. I think I had under 125 last year. I live on a nice, wide, flat street (lots of hills in my town) with several other houses that give candy, so it is a good block for kids to visit.

I am still in shock over 402!! What do you give out for a treat, tish? Is that a significant increase this year??

I did Trunk or Treat at the church and almost ran out of candy in the cold, rainy weather, but we had just TWO. Not even the children/grandchildren of our nearest neighbors. We will be eating full-size candy bars!

Up from 3 last year. Our neighborhood has houses that are farther apart so most families drive to other neighborhoods where there are more houses. Even the little 6 year old boy across the street and little 3 year old girl around the block who regularly come, didn't.

We only had 24 kids this year, which is less than half than usual. It was rainy though.

We had 75. We seem to be getting less each year. About 6 years ago we were close to 200. Our front door is up a few stairs and we watch lots who just walk by to the house next door because they can't be bothered to go up a few stairs! I love when the kids from my school show up as they get so excited when they see you open the door and realize it's you. It's cute

WE had about 60. Love the little rookies, but have a soft spot for the ones who are probably having their last fling. Even though I have a classroom full of little witches, fairies and transformers I still love greeting the night urchins.

Really makes me miss my own children as little kids even more tonight. Glad we got it right and enjoyed those times. Hope to be blessed with the gifts of the circle of life one day.

Postponed until Friday

Trick-or-treating in our area was postponed until Friday due to power outages and unsafe street conditions (branches, snow etc...). Some other nearby towns have postponed indefinitely ~ so maybe we'll have more kids this year...

We are new to this neighborhood, first time in about 5 years we've lived in a neighborhood, so we were so excited to trick or treat and hand out candy (I stayed home to hand it out, daddy took the kids out). We didn't have more than about 30 kids, I'd say, mostly in packs. I don't know if we have actual "trick or treating hours" here (I don't think we do), but it's coming on 9pm, so we'll turn off all the lights then. There is one big community deal on this night, but a lot of kids go there first, then go trick or treating. There are also several hot neighborhoods that are known for being the places to go. We live a block over from one of them, so we just got the brave adventurers who went beyond.

Trick or treaters

I live in the country so I had 1 trick-or-treater, the same one we have every year. She's a former student who's grandparents live down the road. I bet in a couple of years she'll be too old for trick-or-treating.
