Spin off on "names you like"

How about names that have been ruined for you bc of our job!

Not names you never liked, but names you did like until you taught that kid.

1. Cameron

2. Connor (almost every Connor I have ever taught has been a handful and one in particular...ugh! Such a shame bc I really like the name)

3. Colton (only 2 Coltons but both were very naughty!)

*interesting that they are all C names.

1. Brandon (seems like every kid I had with that name was wild)

2. Sebastian (I have had 2 and they were both doozies)

3. Caden/Kaden/Cayden/Kadyn- seems like I cannot get away from this name- it has become extremely popular in the past few years. I have had 2 in class and they were nightmares!

4. Colt- only had 1 in class and that was plenty. He was wild as one!

Jaden! Oh, he was a pain this year. Danny...I got so sick of saying that name, if I never hear it again, it won't be too soon. Michael, but not because of students !
As for girls...honestly, there aren't any that are so bad I can't deal with the name. Of course, I'm only a sub, and have student taught, so I'm sure I'll come up with more names in the future!

Dylan. I don't think that name can ever be redeemed, either.

Jace - pure spawn of Satan

Stephanie & Kayla - because their mothers made my job very difficult

Ethan

Matthew

Madelyn, Madilyn, Madelynn, Madeleine - all sweet girls, but I couldn't name a girl this simply because I have had at least one of each spelling type, just too overused!

David. I used to love the name David. sigh. not any more

I never really liked the name Justin and now seeing that name on my list strikes fear into my heart. The other J-names like Jason, Jaden, Jacob, Jordan fall into the same category.

I don't have the same visceral response to girls' names.

I'm sure I'll get criticized again but these are some pretty harsh comments about children and their names. Cursed? Spawn of Satan?

Don't get me wrong. I've had several difficult children who shared the same name. And I realize this thread is anonymous with fairly common names. However our words are powerful.

I hope this year you have delightful students with these names who smash your preconceived notions.

Oh, I have a few:
  1. Nick
  2. Ashua (not that I would have chosen it before)
  3. Max (sort of on the fence here - had one sweetheart and another who was just plain mean!)
  4. Chase (he spit and flipped over desks)
  5. Philip (another mixed bag - one mean, one with major emotional issues, and one wonderful)
All boys for me too! Hmm... None of my girls have been quite that difficult, but some of their mothers - that's another story!

I've got the girl name!

1. Courtney:shudder. It's been 14 years. I still cringe when I hear the name.
2. Demetrius, Demetria. Each time I've had a child by this name, he or she has suffered from severe mental illness. Poor things.
3. Christian. Each one I've had has tried to push the limits of my faith in religion.
4. Caleb, Kaleb- one stole everything from my room including a cell phone, another taught the younger students how to hump the floor. The 3rd one was actually a nice kid.
