Expanded Notation

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Okay, trying to save some time! I would like to include expanded notation as part of my math warm up. I do not want to go the dry erase route. I would like to have the numbers on rings so that we can just flip them each day to show the expanded notation. I have been spending so much time at school getting my room ready that I just would like to purchase something like this if possible. Has anyone seen something like this? Thank you so much! Happy New School Year!

We made our own last year, but I'm short a few sets and missing some pieces so considering buying these. They worked great in teaching this concept!

I know you would rather not make it, but if it comes to that, I've found this set to be helpful:

We used the strips to build numbers and break them apart to see what made the number up in expanded form. I was amazed at how well this visual worked! I was skeptical but all doubt was put aside as I saw kids pulling them out to help them and then I actually saw them visualize the cards later - had to ask what students were thinking but they told me it was just like our expanded notation cards. They are great!

I use Kim Sutton's program for place value. It is amazing and so easy! the kids love the games, dice and aerobic place value. if you google her name, her site will pop up. check it out. it is so valuable.
