I sold the elliptical and got what I wanted for it. That's all that matters, but I am not joking, the house I just went to looked like something straight off of hoarders or Criminal Minds.

I'm familiar with the neighborhood- blue collar middle class. I've known several people who lived off the main road of this subdivision.

The house had a privacy fence around the front yard that was covered with honeysuckle. There is a tiny driveway that goes down hill to behind the house, and had greenery covered privacy fence on both sides. A gate led to the front door. No grass, all gravel and potted plants. Many broken pots, a couple of empty ponds. The storm door was broken and a sheet covered the front window. In the corner of the front window was a computer camera, pointing out.

A young man, early mid-late 20's came out to meet us. He was skinny, pale, and hunched over. He never made eye contact and led us to the back of the house. It had a walk out basement. On the patio were all sorts of rocks, brick, stone: sorted and stacked, wrought iron pieces, broken furniture. A path about 3' wide led to the door to the basement.

The basement was stacked with boxes. He showed us where to put the elliptical. My sons and I almost laughed out loud when he asked us to make sure to leave clearance for the door. The house smelled bad.

We all came home and took showers.

That sounds creepy! Craigslist always gives me a bad feeling. I'm glad it went okay for you!

that sounds like the beginning of a scary movie. I don't think I would've walked to the back of his house... scary!

It was hysterical. My kids and I were attached at the hips the whole time. We weren't sure what to think- he was either an unfortunate victim of mental illness with a hoarding problem or criminally insane

I've sold tons of furniture on Craig's List and have always had great success. I've met some great people and have made $$$$.

I've never delivered an item, but from your description, I would've turned around! Definitely creepy!

But, on the bright side, you're alive and the elliptical is gone!

There is an episode of criminal minds that came to mind- the one where jj gets smacked in the back of the head with a shovel.
