Eeek - I was watching tv and a Chico's ad popped on. They are selling stirrup pants!

Those of you who (like me) wore them in the early 90's - are you shuddering too?

No o o o o o o o o o o o o o o

I remember saving up my babysitting money and buying a pair in the early 60's. Back then I was 1/2 the woman I am now weighing in at 106 pounds. Had those stirrup pants on in a Christmas picture 1968, year I married DH.

The 90s? I wore them in the mid 80s, with china flats and over-sized shirts.

Not a good look. Especially...Chico's? Isn't that more for women and not the younger set? Can't see that being a good thing.

I wore them like you tammy! Maybe a shaker knit sweater and some long pearls!

I hoped to never see them again! What is wrong with just leggings? I am tall and the stirrups always pulled my pants down!

I loved them in the '60's ! My mom would tell me if you kept something long enough, it would be in fashion again!

I remember them from the early to mid 80s too! I guess they are never far gone!

I never had a pair, but with how popular tights and leggings area, they make sense i guess!

When I was probably 3 or 4, my mom bought me a pair of stirrup pants. I hated the stirrup part and my mom ended up cutting them off for me. She happened to tell our daycare provider, and the daycare provider took me to her closet. It was FILLED with stirrup pants. TONS of them! From that moment on, I LOVED stirrup pants and had several pairs without the stirrups cut off!

Looking back though, I don't really see the point of them!

Hurt feet
Old 08-11-2015, 10:23 AM

As a kid in the 80s/90s I wore them, but they hurt my feet and those slouch socks were thick. Made it hard to lace my fake Reeboks!

Like PP, why don't people who want that look just wear leggings?

Are shaker sweaters back too?

I wore them in high school and college mid 80's through early 90's. I noticed that the new style of pants has become those with narrow legs though no stirrups. Women wear long shirts with these pants. The long shirt and sweater thing seems to have come back in style. I am surprised to hear about stirrup pants though. I do most of my clothes shopping at Chicos these days though because they have clothes that suit my needs.

Stirrup pants

Oh dear, I love chicos, but not buying those pants. Wore them in the 90s with the long sweater or blouse and, wait for it, leg warmers!

I wore them in elementary school back in the 60s. They were great back then in the winter. We had to wear dresses to schoo, but could wear pants under them to play outside. The stirrup pants stayed tucked into the boots very well. I was, of course, one to wear them when they came around again. I ended up cutting the stirrups off, but loved the pants. They were thicker than today's yoga pants. At my age now, methought,mi will take a pass on them.

I remember them from the 80s too. I had one pair, and then realized I hated them because the stirrups felt so uncomfortable on my feet.

I had one pair just for style sake. I agree they should stay away. I have also seen acid wash jeans too!

They say the 3rd time's the charm.
I wore them as a kid in the 60's, as an adult in the 90's and now you're saying there's a chance I can wear them again ---- in MY 60's!

Nooooooooooooooo!

I was in American Eagle and saw bell bottoms! My nieces were like no way are you kidding me! I also can not believe some of the Leggings designs. They look like the pants from the 80's- early 90's

I wore stirrups as a little girl in the 60's and HATED them. I hated the way the stirrup felt on my foot. I never wore them on the last go-round and definetly won't wear this time, either.

I'm just waiting for denim jumpers to come back.

NEVER AGAIN!!! I remember sitting or bending and then having to adjust the waist on my pants because they pulled against the stirrup. Nope. Not me. Not now. Not ever.

Denim jumpers . . . . another 90's staple. Maybe with a shirt with teacher button covers under it? :-)

I rocked the stirrup pant style just like you 2 did back in the mid 80's. My favorite outfit was my cream color mock turtleneck shaker sweater with black stirrup pants and black china flats! I danced to many REM songs wearing that outfit. I know I couldn't do it again...
