I would like my students to listen to stories being read. Does anyone have great sites that read stories? I don't have mp3 or ipod so it has to be thru the computer. Thanks

Not sure if the link will work:

Otherwise, google Storyline Online.

Tumblebooks. You don't need a membership. Here's the site that has the access links. My kids LOVE it!

http://sailsinc.org/tumblebooks.htm

Great for use during centers and the site is really easy to navigate and use.

Here are a few more that may be helpful:
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/storytime/ (free)

For a fee: Scholastic Bookflix which pairs fiction and nonfiction online books read aloud. There are a TON of titles. Try a free trial and see if your library/school might pay for it??
http://teacher.scholastic.com/produc...amoverview.htm

Another excellent site: http://www.pebblego.com/login.php
Our school pays for this - its an online research site for primary students - we subscribe to the nonfiction animals version. Children can read the books to themselves Or press an icon and have the book read to them. Fantastic for just exploring nonfiction... but an incredible tool when students are trying to learn about researching and writing their own nonfiction pieces.

Raz Kids (tons of fiction and nonfiction leveled readers) online and printable along with quizzes. Subscription required.

http://www.magickeys.com/books/ (or google Children's story books online)

I am looking for some useful nonfiction websites where students can listen to books or read stories online for FREE other than storyonline.

Thanks

raz-kids is an AMAZING site for teachers and kids... it requires a membership but it is WELL worth it. My PTO pays for my subscription - so I feel very lucky.
