Please help me settle an argument with my husband. Do you have a trash can in your living room or family room?

We have a little wastepaper basket, but not a full scale trash can. No rotting food in the living room, please!

Nope. One in the bathroom, one in the kitchen, and a "dry products only" one in the office.

Not in the living room. We have one in the kitchen, both bathrooms, and in our office by the computer.

No, no, no, no, no! I'm only giggling because my dh would probably not see anything wrong with having a giant trash can sitting around in the lr or fr.

When it was my house (before DH came along), I had a trash can in the kitchen, the utility room, and bathroom, and small waste-paper baskets in the living room, den, office, and two bedrooms. I have allergies, and I have tissues in every room, so I wanted a place to put the used ones.

Once DH came along, we downsized to one in the bathroom and the one in the kitchen moved to the utility room. He has OCD, and trash cans make him absolutely crazy. He literally won't even look at one, much less touch one. Even now, he remembers where the old ones used to sit, and he avoids those areas. He's begged and begged for me to remove the one from the bathroom, but there is no way I'm doing that.

No, we have one in our kitchen which is just right off of our living room.

We also have a small one in our bedroom, office, bathroom and utility room. Now that I type it out we basically have one in every room but our living room.

Yes, we have one next to DH's recliner in the family room. It's tucked in the corner where it's barely visible. I can't imagine what the room would look like if there wasn't a trashcan next to his chair.

We only have one in the kitchen. It gets changed everyday. That's all we can handle. I'm the only one changing it! Imagine if we had more than that! I'd be running around like a chicken with my head cut off.

I have a small waste basket under my desk in the living room since I spend a lot of time at my computer there. Interestingly enough, every room in the house has some kind of trash/waste basket except for the family room which is where we spend the most time.

Not that it matters as far as my huband is concerned, but at least I know I'm not crazy! He insists that there is nothing worng with a trash can in the living room and is convinced that millions of Americans have them. And I'm talking real trash, not just a few tissues or a scrap of junk mail. I am glad to see that one other person has a husband who has a trash can next to his recliner, so I know I'm not alone!
