So our disctrict will be using Journeys this up and coming school year. What components are most useful to you?

There are SO MANY COMPONENTS!!

I LOVE ThinkCentral. I don't have to carry ANYTHING home with me, because every single resource is online.

I also use the stuff in the Grab-and-Go box, mostly for centers. My kids were not very independent with the Ready-Made Workstations, but I did try for awhile to get those going. It was a bust.

I did not teach the writing portion of Journeys last year, because we started the program very late in the fall. This year I plan to, and I do like the way it was organized.

The assessments are enh - typical multiple choice you expect from a basal. There are some good unit tests and diagnostic assessments.

Oh, and the treasure box looking thing of interventions. That's helpful as well. HTH!

Thanks..I don't like the fact that the story assessments are all mult choice. Kinda silly if you ask me.

I just found out yesterday that my school is getting the 2014 Journeys. Are there any really good teacher resource websites with PowerPoints?

We started using Journeys last year. I will definitely send ya'll the free resources that I have found. I have purchased just about every unit on TpT. I have Boggle games and Cootie Catchers too! When my husband gets off my school computer I will attach some files tomorrow.

What do the PowerPoint presentations show? I have access to ThinkCentral, but I have never found any PP's.

I too would love to see what you have found.

Promethium Planet has great lessons available for smart boards but they are out of my price range!

There are wonderful trifolds that go with each lesson on here. Just search Journey trifolds. They go with each story and require students to provide text evidence.

I haven't forgotten about ya'll! I have been in PD workshops all week and I have a two year old child. I will try to download my files ASAP. I do have a tri-fold file. Journeys updated their stories in 2014 and some of the tri-folds are missing for the new stories.

I am a bit overwhelmed with the number of resources as well. Does anyone have any suggestions of which components to start with?

My district adopted Journeys 2014 last year. I found these websites that had a lot of information. Some are from the old edition. I hope they are helpful. The series is very overwhelming! You cannot do everything. Find what works for you and teach the important things.

My Favorite:
https://sites.google.com/a/sblschool...rade/reading-1

The following you have to search and find what works for you:
http://www.mrgabor.com/home/vocabulary

http://mellettek.home.comcast.net/~m...MNPSstart.html

http://www.mrsmcgillen.com/page5.htm

This site has lessons for most of the stories. The lessons are aligned with CCSS:

I am so overwhelmed thinking about what to expect with the Common Core Standards. Thanks for sharing these sites. I am sure they will be helpful when school starts.

Hi! If it's okay, I'd love to see the resources you're talking about, too. We just started using Journeys this year and we're all trying to figure things out. Any input you have is welcome, and any resources are great! I'm a new member, so I don't know how you do this -- I guess you send me a link in a reply??Thanks!!!
