“Santa” for adults

We still do “Santa” gifts as a family of all adults, but they are smaller now and fill a stocking usually. We each buy small do-dads and label them from ourselves. My tag is “______ Clause” and everyone signs them like that.

When we figured out Santa wasn’t real my little brother and I had a huge “crisis” of being afraid we would no longer have Christmas morning gifts. (He’s 2.5 years younger than me and he figured it out well before me. ) Our family then talked about how Santa is really the spirit of giving and our big Santa gifts suddenly carried tags of Mimi Clause and Auntie Clause and Mama and Daddy Clause. We’ve kept doing this till now. I don’t see this tradition ever really stopping.

Does anyone else do something like this? We still like waking up to stockings full of candy and little treats - even if we only partially believe in Santa now.

As we got older and wiser, my mom wrapped the presents and signed the tags from Mrs. Claus or Rudolph or the elves.

I do that now, as well. I try to fit the moniker to the gift when I can. For example, dd is getting shoes, so they’re from the elves.

We don’t say they’re from Santa but...

we still do stockings. We each pick up a few small things for each other’s stockings. It’s a fun, sweet tradition.

I like the tradition, but one of my kids feels way poor. She actually didn’t want anything for Christmas because she couldn’t afford good gifts.

Little does she know that she will never be able to afford good gifts. She will have to plan for them.
