Who's Been Going for Drives?

For a change of scenery, who has been going for a drive, but staying in your car?

Yesterday, fiance' and I were gone for a few hours and drove along PCH (Pacific Coast Hwy). We never stepped out of the car, but it was nice.

On weeks I don't go to the store I've been making sure to take about a 20 minute drive so my car battery doesn't die. Not something I enjoy though- I hate that I have to drive around for no reason!

DH and I went for a drive Friday north of Bellingham and saw fields of berries that will soon be full of raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries. Yum!!

We went for a drive last week. I have a new zippy little wannabe race car and a friend who actually races cars. He drove some curvy back roads right around our town, and I followed as fast as I could.

We go for drives 3-4 times a week, and we go for hikes 2-3 times. My DH is finding really out-of-the-way places that are secluded. On one hike we saw only two people and that was when we were coming out of the woods.

To clarify, we live in Maine in an area that's not super populated, so it's easier to avoid people.

Me! I went on an night drive with the kiddo even. We took turns picking songs to play on the radio and did a little cruising a la old school.

We HAVE TO get out a little bit. I'm going nuts around here.

Last weekend

My family and I did one last weekend. We got ice cream through a drive thru and then drove around town, checking out some neighborhoods/parts of town we hadn't seen or weren't as familiar with. It was fun.

I take DD for a drive every day after lunch. This can be a bad time for her. I'm not sure why, but if we go for a drive, it helps. We usually stop at Sonic for ice cream or drive by Chick Fil a so she can wave at Dad.

We've been going on drives around our rural county one to two times a week. I have a 15 year old and have been using it as a way for her to practice her driving.

Mason poops when he's in the car for more than 2 minutes so he doesn't go for a drive unless it's unavoidable.

I haven't been going for drives, but I love them and find them them relaxing. I should.

Today was a beautiful day and we drove 5 hours across state to SILís house. Tomorrow we will pick up our boat from the warehouse where it has been in winter storage. Then we drive home on Tuesday. A good day!

Every week we drive into the desert for a walk and picnic with a sandwich or cheese and crackers and apple and a bottle of wine. It has been a little vacation for us. We've seen wildflowers and some wildlife and very few people. Noe that it's getting hot, I think we'll just stay in the car.

We have been going about 2-3 times a week. If the baby has been fighting naps or the 3 year old is grumpy, we will take a drive so one or both will nap. It's the only break I get - I put on a podcast and enjoy not having either one attached to me. DH has been taking them both for a drive one day on the weekend so I can have an hour to craft (or clean, depending on which will make me feel better!) Or he takes the baby so I can do something uninterrupted with the toddler.

I feel guilty about the drives though, because our province has been asking people to stay off the roads unless you are going out for essentials. They aren't actually stopping people but I don't like not following rules. Luckily the restrictions are easing slowly. We just got rid of the baby's pacifier so I foresee a lot of car and stroller naps in our future, and it's supposed to rain all week!

Weíve been asked to stay home except for essentials and exercise. I try to honor that and donít see many cars about. However, yesterday as I walked, I saw an extremely attractive couple clearly out for a drive in their top-down convertible Rolls Royce. They were so glamorous, like something from an old Doris Day movie.

Iíve always liked my walks, but now theyíre my entertainment, too.

We've taken a few Sunday drives. We usually don't travel too far and sometimes just to get to a trail for biking. It makes things feel somewhat normal and a way to break the monotony.

I think this is what annoys me about the stay at home order. I wish we could take a drive but that is considered non-essential travel here. It feels essential, though. Enjoy your drives!

Drives

The sun was shining Saturday, which is a rarity here, so we took one of our classic cars for a drive. We found an area of older unique homes we never knew existed even though we both grew up in the area. People were out running and walking which provided us with some entertainment. We found a cool small grocery store so we picked up some fruits and veggies.

I know we have a stay at home order, but I donít really see how going for a drive is wrong. Yes, we stopped at the store, but if we hadnít I would have gone on Sunday anyway. A person has to eat!

We do. I can drive north of here on some back roads and pass only one or two cars the entire drive. We also often grab some sandwiches and a drink and go down to the ocean or to a lake or river launch area to eat lunch on nice sunny days.

Yes. DH and I have gone for some. We try not to go to far because I don't want to have to pee in a field. We have packed a picnic and sit in the car by the lake to have lunch. There is still ice on the lakes so its a little chilly to be outside there. Its a nice change of scenery and something to plan and look forward to.

It really is the simple things thar bring joy right now. We never would have taken the time for drives and spring picnics a year ago.
