Iím so excited! My new book group had our inaugural Zoom meeting today. It couldnít have been better. And we chose books/moderators for the next 3 months.

Iíve wanted to be in a book group since I moved here 2 years ago. Finally, hooray!

Congratulations!!! I started my book club last summer and it's still going strong!!! Right now we're reading The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah. Each month a different person chooses a book so we get different genres too. I always google discussion questions. We each take a turn asking a question.
**This is obviously not necessary but I always give everyone a little gift such as pencils from oriental trade with our book club name on it, notepads with pens attached, bookmarks with inspirational quotes, and some other stuff. I like doing this. Here's an awesome youtube video you can share with your bookclub
https://www.google.com/search?sxsrf=...sclient=psy-ab
Enjoy!!!
PS: I may have gotten that video here from PT

Good for you! I love my book club, we've been meeting via zoom since April and while it's not ideal we still enjoy it. I'd like to know which books you chose also!

Munchkins, my last neighborhood is 500 miles away. All local here because we HOPE to eventually leave Zoom and meet in person.

First 3 books:
The Girl with Seven Names, Lee (free Prime Kindle)
The Vanishing Half, Bennett
Gertrude Bell: Queen of the Desert, Shaper of Dreams, Howell

The nonfiction people are pushier than the fiction people.

That's great!
No book clubs for me, but I've been able to join virtual zoom book tours for some of my favorite authors. They've never come to my area, but since they switched to zoom tours, they opened it up to anyone who wanted to participate. It was a real treat for me!

How fun! My mom was in a book group with women from her church when I was growing up. I always thought I'd be in a book group when I grew up, but I never did find one. I started several community playgroups when my kids were little, but no one wanted to read. One friend and I decided to have one where we read all the classics we somehow missed in school. We read one book (Lord of the Flies), decided we hadn't missed much and never did it again

I did participate in an academic book group that was interesting this past year, but not the same as a friendly book group.

Enjoy!

I'm glad that your first meeting went so well. How did you find people to be in the group?

That sounds very exciting! Good for you. Maybe a book club is what I need to get me more motivated to read. I just posted on another question that I have not read as much as I thought I would lately. Book clubs could be the way to go!

read the Seven Names and found it very interesting especially with North Korea being at the front of the news so frequently. She also did a TED Talk you might check out, too.
Enjoy!

I was intrigued by the name, downloaded it about two hours ago, and am about half-way through. I have to stop reading or nothing will get done today.

Yay! I think you'll be the best leader ever!
I belonged to a book club years ago and it was great fun we took turns hosting and there was a bit of a friendly competition between some friends - we always had fabulous appetizers/ finger food
