Help! I need gift ideas!

My niece is getting baptized this Sunday and I can't think of a thing to give her! She's about 10 months old and she's getting baptized in an Episcopalian church.
Is there a good children's book to give her that isn't a Bible? (Someone else is giving her one.) Any "trending" gifts?

maybe a cross to hang in her room, a cross necklace or something to be put away for when she older, a cute prayer bear or stuffed animal/doll (religious/Christian bookstores have them)

I've given quite a few Silver Eagle dollar coins. With the price of silver being relatively low, they are quite affordable.

I opt for getting Silver Eagles in the child's birth year. I also pay a little extra (about $8) for the blue velvet presentation box with the Silver Eagle emblem on it.

It isn't a religiously themed keepsake, but I've received lots of positive comments about it.

You can purchase them at pretty much any coin store, but be sure they have the presentation boxes on hand. Handle the coin with a cloth or tissue as your fingers will leave prints and tarnish more quickly.

I've never heard of giving a gift for a baptism. I always send a card.

Have the parents started a college savings account? If so, you could contribute to it.

silver dollar a distant relative gave my mother to keep for me when I was a child. I'm over 60, so it's been around a l-o-n-g time. I think the Silver Eagle dollar coin in a presentation box is a lovely idea. The college savings idea is a nice one, as well.

Baptism gifts vary from the religiously significant to the every day practical. They also vary depending on my relationship with the recipient.

If I am a Godparent or if the child is a niece or nephew I try to give something that will be a keepsake. It might be a Children's Bible, a locket, a cross necklace, silver picture frame etc. I often gave an engraved silver baby cup or even silver children's cutlery. Perhaps an engraved Christmas ornament. There are many picture books that are quite appropriate and would be considered special keepsakes.

I have also been known to give a practical gift like clothes or even a toy, especially if the child is not a family member.

I still have the locket my Aunt / Godmother gave me when I was baptized (over 60 years ago) as well as the silver dollars from my Grandpa.

Etsy shops

I ordered a special poem print (buy and download PDF almost immediately and take to a print shop for a crisp copy) from an Etsy shop. It was personalized with names, dates, church etc. I put in a frame that I picked up at Hobby Lobby. Print was probably $7 or $8. and frame between $10 and $15 (8 x 10)
You can search baptism gifts on Etsy.

We got my daughter the Growing in Grace Precious Moments figures. There is a baby one that would be appropriate.
